Happy New Year 2026: Hooked on Adrenaline at Bull Arena!
A Vietnam Giant Freshwater Fishing Tour Report
The calendar flipped to Happy New Year 2026, and for a passionate angler, there’s no better way to celebrate a fresh start than by wrestling with giants. Our group of friends, all geared up for the ultimate catch, embarked on a thrilling Vietnam Fishing Tours 2026 experience: the two-day Giant Fresh Water Fishing Tour at the legendary Bull Arena Fishing Park in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu.
This wasn’t just a trip; it was a pure adrenaline-pumping, line-testing, bucket-list-smashing Vietnam Fishing Trips 2026 adventure that proved why Fishing in Vietnam is fast becoming the world’s premier angling destination.

Day 1 Morning: The Titans of Bull Arena Await
The journey began bright and early at 7:00 AM in Ho Chi Minh City, setting the stage for our Sai Gon Fishing tour. The drive to Bà Rịa Province, home to the massive Bull Arena Fishing Park, was buzzing with anticipation. As we arrived, the sheer scale of the venue—a sprawling 17,000 m2 facility boasting over 10,000 m2 of water surface—promised an encounter with the planet’s most formidable freshwater species. This is the heart of any true Ba Ria – Vung Tau Fishing Tour.

We immediately cast our lines into the deep, targeting the true heavyweights. The action was intense and immediate. Rods bent violently as we fought to conquer species that felt less like fish and more like aquatic bulldozers. We quickly landed several majestic Mekong Giant Catfish, with specimens ranging from a respectable 10 kg up to jaw-dropping 40+ kg! The brute force of these creatures, often considered the holy grail of Giant Fresh Water Fishing Tour species, was a perfect wake-up call for the New Year.

The equally impressive fights from the massive Siamese Carp (up to 40 kg) and strong Asian Carp further solidified the park’s reputation. Each successful photo-and-release moment was met with high-fives and roaring cheers, the pure joy of the catch washing over us.

The Afternoon Lure: A Jungle of Predators

After a well-deserved lakeside lunch and a quick check-in at the comfortable overnight accommodations provided by Bull Arena Fishing Park, the afternoon shifted gears. It was time for a change of tactics: Carnivorous Lure Fishing. This is where the truly exotic and prehistoric predators come out to play, making this a standout Fishing tour in Vietnam.
The thrill of casting a lure and feeling a sudden, bone-jarring strike from a high-speed predator is unmatched. We were on the hunt for a menagerie of giants:
-
Arapaima: The absolute kings, massive torpedoes of muscle hitting the 40 to 60 kg range! Landing one of these living fossils was an epic, sweat-soaked battle—a moment of pure angling triumph.
-
Amazon Redtail Catfish: The beautifully marked, powerful fighters that put a serious strain on the drag, often clocking in between 10–20 kg.
-
Alligator Gar: The sleek, toothy beasts provided thrilling topwater strikes. These 10–20 kg predators are pure muscle and speed.
-
Chao Phraya Catfish and Pacu: These offered relentless action, demanding quick reflexes and technical prowess.
The variety was stunning. It felt less like a fishing pond and more like a global freshwater fishing expedition!

Night Fishing & BBQ: The Perfect New Year’s Eve Vibe
As the sun dipped below the horizon, bathing the lake in a spectacular array of colors, the atmosphere transformed. This was the moment we’d all been waiting for: the famous night fishing session. From 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the lake came alive with a different kind of energy. The air was cool, the water quiet, and the bites were subtle yet fierce.
But the angling action was beautifully complemented by a true taste of Vietnamese hospitality. We gathered for an incredible BBQ dinner right at the lakeside. The aroma of grilling meats and fresh seafood, mixed with the damp, earthy smell of the water, created a perfect sensory experience.
We shared stories, laughed about the ones that got away, and toasted to the fantastic Vietnam Fishing Travel 2026 adventure we were sharing. The camaraderie around the glowing embers of the grill, with our rods set out and waiting, was the ultimate embodiment of a joyous new year celebration away from the city bustle of TP.HCM. We spent the night comfortably resting right at Bull Arena Fishing Park, dreaming of bigger catches.

Day 2: One Last Cast for Glory
We woke up refreshed, had a hearty breakfast, and immediately returned to the water, eager to lock horns with both the Giant Fresh Water and Carnivorous species one last time. The morning bite was hot, providing a perfect opportunity to practice our lure techniques on the remaining predators. The feeling of pure, unadulterated joy as the sun warmed our backs and the line zipped off the reel was an affirmation of why we chase this sport. Every fight was a victory, every release a promise to the park’s amazing fishery.

Looking Ahead to More Vietnam Fishing
As the afternoon drew to a close, we packed our gear, the sound of reels and snapping tackle boxes replaced by fond goodbyes. Our two-day fishing trip in Vietnam was a resounding success—a perfect blend of world-class fishing, incredible culinary experiences, and the unparalleled spirit of friendship.
If you’re planning your own Ba Ria – Vung Tau Fishing Tour or looking for an exciting way to kick off the new year, I can’t recommend Bull Arena Fishing Park enough.
